ASTD Lunch and Learn with Beth Keane of Studer Group

Hmmm… moving my low performers either up or out…what a good idea… Beth Keane’s presentation at ASTD gave us some great tools to take with us – no matter what industry you are in.

How long should you continue to allow those low performing employees to “eat away” at your energy and time? According to Studer Group, once identified, low performers in the workplace need to be dealt with quickly before they affect all the middle and high performers and your whole organization goes downhill.

What was the best takeaway from this wonderful lunch and learn? – Deal first with your high performers – Once coached (re-recruited), they’ll have the best positive effect on everyone else in your group, then work to coach your middle performers and finally – focus in (and don’t forget about) your low performers. Figure out the specific strategy you want to use  to get them moving up to the work  level you need them to be,  or move them out of your workplace! It takes courage and some fortitude but it really pays off in the  overall performance of your organization.
We loved this great Studer Group concept. Thanks, Beth Keane!

Beth Keane of Studor Group on “Coaching and Managing Performance”

During her presentation today, Beth Keane both informed and entertained on a difficult topic: identifying and coaching individual team performance. She spoke about how to identify your low, middle and high performers, and what to do to optimize your team by moving your low performers “up or out”, coaching your middle performers, and rewarding and re-recruiting your highest performers.

Beth identifies her fourth son as her "resident low performer" and tells an engaging story about the dangers of low/poor performance
